Gender odds on the Vaelet and Mossanda Lux pair
Both Vaelet and Mossanda Lux hatch 50/50 male, so every one you catch is a coin flip and two of each covers it. Dogen comes out 50/50 too. Two of the same gender produces nothing at all, however right the pair is.

Why an older Dogen combo list won't work
Pre-1.0 guides name a recipe. The 1.0 table works on averages: a pair produces Dogen when the two parents' breed ranks average to its 1460. 248 different pairs hit that average, which is why a page showing five or six rows is quoting a sample rather than an answer.
Ours is the game's real 44,849-pair table, shipped verbatim rather than approximated from the rank formula. The 19,044 figure still in circulation is 138 squared, the pre-1.0 roster of base forms counted as ordered pairs, so it measures something else. One pair shows the difference. Every calculator downstream of palcalc ships Panthalus and Panthalus as breeding true, and the game's own tables prove it cannot, because that pair yields Aegidron.
The shortest breeding path to Dogen
3 breeding steps from a starter box reach Dogen. Eikthyrdeer and Hangyu make Eikthyrdeer Terra, then Dumud and Eikthyrdeer Terra make Dumud Gild, then Dumud Gild and Loupmoon Cryst make Dogen.
- 1
- 2
- 3
Measured from an early-game box. Anything you already own further along cuts steps off, so load your save and it routes from there.
Dogen passive skill odds per egg
A clean four-passive pool across both parents gives 10.0% per Dogen egg, which is about 22 eggs for a 90% shot at all four. Every extra passive skill on either parent lowers it.
| You want | Parent pool | Per egg | Eggs for 90% |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4 specific passives | 4 | 10.0% | 22 |
| 4 specific passives | 5 | 2.0% | 114 |
| 4 specific passives | 6 | 0.7% | 345 |
| 3 specific passives | 3 | 30.0% | 7 |
| 3 specific passives | 4 | 15.0% | 15 |
| 3 specific passives | 5 | 6.0% | 38 |
| 2 specific passives | 2 | 60.0% | 3 |
| 2 specific passives | 4 | 25.0% | 9 |
One junk passive on a parent can double the eggs you need. The per-egg column is the chance every passive skill you want lands on the egg, with random extras allowed. The roll behind these numbers is worked through in the Palworld passive inheritance odds guide, and the planner ranks the pairs in your own box by them.
Is Dogen worth breeding, or should you catch one?
Breed toward it, then catch one when you get there. Dogen only spawns at level 51-56, late enough that a 3-step chain often lands first. The shortest chain from a starter box runs 3 steps, and the cheapest pair still needs a level 20 catch. With 248 pairs on the list, one half of one of them is probably in your box already.
Breed it anyway once you own one. A pair is how you roll passive skills; catching is how you get the species.
Where to find Dogen in the wild
Dogen spawns in Dancing Sakura Shrine, the one named region its markers land in, at level 53-56. Another 4 of its spawn points sit outside every named region.
| Region | Level | Spawn points |
|---|---|---|
| Dancing Sakura Shrine | 53-56 | 48 |
Dogen work suitability and drops
Dogen has Handiwork 4 and Gathering 3 in Palworld 1.0, and drops Ancient Civilization Parts and Bone when killed or caught. Those levels and the drop rows come from our own export of the game's tables.
What Dogen is actually for once it hatches
Handiwork 4 is the job to put it on, mid-table out of a ceiling of 8. See best Handiwork pals for what beats it.
Dogen active skills and partner skill
Dogen learns 8 active skills as it levels, the last at level 70. Its partner skill is Homeward Prayer. That learnset is our own export of the game's level table, cooldowns and all.

Dogen breeding FAQ
- Can you breed Dogen in Palworld?
- Yes. 248 pairs produce Dogen in the Palworld 1.0 breeding table. Both parents have to be opposite genders, in a breeding farm, with cake in the feed box. The cheapest of those pairs is Vaelet and Mossanda Lux, and the egg then needs an egg incubator to hatch.
- What two Pals make Dogen in Palworld?
- Vaelet and Mossanda Lux, opposite genders. Both are catchable in the wild from about level 20, which makes it the cheapest of the 248 pairs that produce Dogen. Every other pair is listed on this page. Both parents average to its breed rank of 1460.
- Can you catch Dogen in the wild in Palworld 1.0?
- Yes, at level 51-56. Its spawn points fall inside one named region, Dancing Sakura Shrine, where they run level 53-56. There is no alpha Dogen, so field spawns are the only source of one. The map on this page marks 52 spawn points for it in total.
- Are these Dogen breeding combos updated for Palworld 1.0?
- Yes. Every pair here comes out of the game's real 44,849-pair table, shipped verbatim rather than approximated. All 248 of Dogen's pairs are in the list, with the easiest 120 shown. Panthalus and Panthalus is the usual tell of a stale list, and the game's tables rule it out.
- Can Dogen be bred in the early game?
- The cheapest pair needs a level 20 catch, so yes, comfortably. From a starter box the chain runs 3 steps, opening with Eikthyrdeer and Hangyu. Anything you already own further along shortens it, which is the part loading your own save changes.
- Can Dogen inherit all four passive skills from one egg?
- Only if both parents' combined pool is exactly those four. Dogen is born with no fixed passive, so all four slots are open, and a pair like Vaelet and Mossanda Lux has to carry nothing else. A clean four-passive pool is 10% per egg, about 22 eggs for a 90% shot.
Route this pair from your own save
Pal Hatchery reads your Level.sav in your browser and tells you which half of the Vaelet and Mossanda Lux pair you already own.
It reads genders, levels and passive skills off the save, then routes from there. Nothing is uploaded.
