Gender odds on the Mammorest and Helzephyr pair
Both Mammorest and Helzephyr hatch 50/50 male, so every one you catch is a coin flip and two of each covers it. Palumba comes out 50/50 too. Two of the same gender produces nothing at all, however right the pair is.

Why an older Palumba combo list won't work
Pre-1.0 guides name a recipe. The 1.0 table works on averages: a pair produces Palumba when the two parents' breed ranks average to its 1240. 206 different pairs hit that average, which is why a page showing five or six rows is quoting a sample rather than an answer.
Ours is the game's real 44,849-pair table, shipped verbatim rather than approximated from the rank formula. The 19,044 figure still in circulation is 138 squared, the pre-1.0 roster of base forms counted as ordered pairs, so it measures something else. One pair shows the difference. Every calculator downstream of palcalc ships Panthalus and Panthalus as breeding true, and the game's own tables prove it cannot, because that pair yields Aegidron.
The shortest breeding path to Palumba
3 breeding steps from a starter box reach Palumba. Arsox and Chillet make Chillet Ignis, then Chillet Ignis and Loupmoon Cryst make Vanwyrm, then Vanwyrm and Petallia Ignis make Palumba.
- 1
- 2
- 3
Measured from an early-game box. Anything you already own further along cuts steps off, so load your save and it routes from there.
Palumba passive skill odds per egg
A clean four-passive pool across both parents gives 10.0% per Palumba egg, which is about 22 eggs for a 90% shot at all four. Every extra passive skill on either parent lowers it.
| You want | Parent pool | Per egg | Eggs for 90% |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4 specific passives | 4 | 10.0% | 22 |
| 4 specific passives | 5 | 2.0% | 114 |
| 4 specific passives | 6 | 0.7% | 345 |
| 3 specific passives | 3 | 30.0% | 7 |
| 3 specific passives | 4 | 15.0% | 15 |
| 3 specific passives | 5 | 6.0% | 38 |
| 2 specific passives | 2 | 60.0% | 3 |
| 2 specific passives | 4 | 25.0% | 9 |
One junk passive on a parent can double the eggs you need. The per-egg column is the chance every passive skill you want lands on the egg, with random extras allowed. The roll behind these numbers is worked through in the Palworld passive inheritance odds guide, and the planner ranks the pairs in your own box by them.
Is Palumba worth breeding, or should you catch one?
Catch one. Palumba spawns from level 32, well short of the 3-step chain it takes to make one. The shortest chain from a starter box runs 3 steps, and the cheapest pair still needs a level 26 catch. With 206 pairs on the list, one half of one of them is probably in your box already.
Breed it anyway once you own one. A pair is how you roll passive skills; catching is how you get the species.
Where to find Palumba in the wild
Palumba spawns in Desiccated Dunes and 1 other area, at level 34-38. Another 16 of its spawn points sit outside every named region.
| Region | Level | Spawn points |
|---|---|---|
| Desiccated Dunes | 34-38 | 8 |
| Wildlife Sanctuary 3 | 34-38 | 4 |
Palumba work suitability and drops
Palumba has Mining 5 and Planting 4 in Palworld 1.0, and drops Ancient Civilization Parts and Bone when killed or caught. Those levels and the drop rows come from our own export of the game's tables.
What Palumba is actually for once it hatches
Mining 5 is the job to put it on, mid-table out of a ceiling of 8. See best Mining pals for what beats it. Planting 4 sits right behind it, so one Palumba covers two jobs.
Palumba active skills and partner skill
Palumba learns 8 active skills as it levels, the last at level 70. Its partner skill is Samba Step. That learnset is our own export of the game's level table, cooldowns and all.

What Palumba breeds into as a parent
Paired with other species, Palumba produces 88 different children, the rarest of them Menasting and Vaelet. A parent that wide is worth a farm slot on its own.
Palumba breeding FAQ
- Can you breed Palumba in Palworld?
- Yes. 206 pairs produce Palumba in the Palworld 1.0 breeding table. Both parents have to be opposite genders, in a breeding farm, with cake in the feed box. The cheapest of those pairs is Mammorest and Helzephyr, and the egg then needs an egg incubator to hatch.
- What two Pals make Palumba in Palworld?
- Mammorest and Helzephyr, opposite genders. Both are catchable in the wild from about level 26, which makes it the cheapest of the 206 pairs that produce Palumba. Every other pair is listed on this page. Both parents average to its breed rank of 1240.
- Can you catch Palumba in the wild in Palworld 1.0?
- Yes, at level 32-50. Its spawn points fall inside 2 named regions, the densest Desiccated Dunes, where they run level 34-38. There is no alpha Palumba, so field spawns are the only source of one. The map on this page marks 28 spawn points for it in total.
- Are these Palumba breeding combos updated for Palworld 1.0?
- Yes. Every pair here comes out of the game's real 44,849-pair table, shipped verbatim rather than approximated. All 206 of Palumba's pairs are in the list, with the easiest 120 shown. Panthalus and Panthalus is the usual tell of a stale list, and the game's tables rule it out.
- Can Palumba be bred in the early game?
- The cheapest pair needs a level 26 catch, so not much before mid-game. From a starter box the chain runs 3 steps, opening with Arsox and Chillet. Anything you already own further along shortens it, which is the part loading your own save changes.
- Can Palumba inherit all four passive skills from one egg?
- Only if both parents' combined pool is exactly those four. Palumba is born with no fixed passive, so all four slots are open, and a pair like Mammorest and Helzephyr has to carry nothing else. A clean four-passive pool is 10% per egg, about 22 eggs for a 90% shot.
Route this pair from your own save
Pal Hatchery reads your Level.sav in your browser and tells you which half of the Mammorest and Helzephyr pair you already own.
It reads genders, levels and passive skills off the save, then routes from there. Nothing is uploaded.
