Gender odds on the Ghangler and Relaxaurus pair
Both Ghangler and Relaxaurus hatch 50/50 male, so every one you catch is a coin flip and two of each covers it. Sootseer comes out 50/50 too. Two of the same gender produces nothing at all, however right the pair is.

Why an older Sootseer combo list won't work
Pre-1.0 guides name a recipe. The 1.0 table works on averages: a pair produces Sootseer when the two parents' breed ranks average to its 980. 326 different pairs hit that average, which is why a page showing five or six rows is quoting a sample rather than an answer.
Ours is the game's real 44,849-pair table, shipped verbatim rather than approximated from the rank formula. The 19,044 figure still in circulation is 138 squared, the pre-1.0 roster of base forms counted as ordered pairs, so it measures something else. One pair shows the difference. Every calculator downstream of palcalc ships Panthalus and Panthalus as breeding true, and the game's own tables prove it cannot, because that pair yields Aegidron.
The shortest breeding path to Sootseer
No chain of starter pals reaches Sootseer inside six generations, so the first one has to be caught at level 45-67.
Sootseer passive skill odds per egg
A clean four-passive pool across both parents gives 10.0% per Sootseer egg, which is about 22 eggs for a 90% shot at all four. Every extra passive skill on either parent lowers it.
| You want | Parent pool | Per egg | Eggs for 90% |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4 specific passives | 4 | 10.0% | 22 |
| 4 specific passives | 5 | 2.0% | 114 |
| 4 specific passives | 6 | 0.7% | 345 |
| 3 specific passives | 3 | 30.0% | 7 |
| 3 specific passives | 4 | 15.0% | 15 |
| 3 specific passives | 5 | 6.0% | 38 |
| 2 specific passives | 2 | 60.0% | 3 |
| 2 specific passives | 4 | 25.0% | 9 |
One junk passive on a parent can double the eggs you need. The per-egg column is the chance every passive skill you want lands on the egg, with random extras allowed. The roll behind these numbers is worked through in the full Palworld passive inheritance odds table, and the planner ranks the pairs in your own box by them.
Is Sootseer worth breeding, or should you catch one?
Breed toward it, then catch one when you get there. Sootseer only spawns at level 45-67, late enough that a pair often lands first. Nothing in a starter box reaches it inside six generations, and the cheapest pair needs a level 30 catch. With 326 pairs on the list, one half of one of them is probably in your box already.
Breed it anyway once you own one. A pair is how you roll passive skills; catching is how you get the species.
Where to find Sootseer in the wild

Sootseer work suitability and drops
Sootseer has Kindling 3 and Handiwork 3 in Palworld 1.0, and drops Ancient Civilization Parts and Bone when killed or caught. Those levels and the drop rows come from our own export of the game's tables.
What Sootseer is actually for once it hatches
Kindling 3 is the best it does, which is base filler out of a ceiling of 8. Check best Kindling pals for anything that does it properly. It works through the night, when the rest of the base is asleep.
Sootseer active skills and partner skill
Sootseer learns 8 active skills as it levels, the last at level 70. Its partner skill is Grave Robber. That learnset is our own export of the game's level table, cooldowns and all.

Paired with other species, Sootseer produces 89 different children, the rarest of them Menasting and Vaelet. A parent that wide is worth a farm slot on its own.
Sootseer breeding FAQ
- Can you breed Sootseer in Palworld?
- Yes. 326 pairs produce Sootseer in the Palworld 1.0 breeding table. Both parents have to be opposite genders, in a breeding farm, with cake in the feed box. The cheapest of those pairs is Ghangler and Relaxaurus, and the egg then needs an egg incubator to hatch.
- What two Pals make Sootseer in Palworld?
- Ghangler and Relaxaurus, opposite genders. Both are catchable in the wild from about level 30, which makes it the cheapest of the 326 pairs that produce Sootseer. Every other pair is listed on this page. Both parents average to its breed rank of 980.
- Can you catch Sootseer in the wild in Palworld 1.0?
- Yes, at level 45-67. Its spawn points fall inside 10 named regions, the densest Frozen Coral Hill, where they run level 64-67 at night. There is no alpha Sootseer, so field spawns are the only source of one. The map on this page marks 615 spawn points for it in total.
- Are these Sootseer breeding combos updated for Palworld 1.0?
- Yes. Every pair here comes out of the game's real 44,849-pair table, shipped verbatim rather than approximated. All 326 of Sootseer's pairs are in the list, with the easiest 120 shown. Panthalus and Panthalus is the usual tell of a stale list, and the game's tables rule it out.
- Can Sootseer be bred in the early game?
- No. No chain of starter pals reaches Sootseer inside six generations, so the first one has to be caught at level 45-67. 326 pairs breed more of them, the cheapest Ghangler and Relaxaurus, which needs a level 30 catch of its own.
- Can Sootseer inherit all four passive skills from one egg?
- Only if both parents' combined pool is exactly those four. Sootseer is born with no fixed passive, so all four slots are open, and a pair like Ghangler and Relaxaurus has to carry nothing else. A clean four-passive pool is 10% per egg, about 22 eggs for a 90% shot.
Route this pair from your own save
Pal Hatchery reads your Level.sav in your browser and tells you which half of the Ghangler and Relaxaurus pair you already own.
It reads genders, levels and passive skills off the save, then routes from there. Nothing is uploaded.
