Why an older Kelpsea Ignis combo list won't work
Pre-1.0 guides name a recipe. The 1.0 table works on averages: a pair produces Kelpsea Ignis when the two parents' breed ranks average to its 2470. 207 different pairs hit that average, which is why a page showing five or six rows is quoting a sample rather than an answer. Kelpsea Ignis is a variant form as well, and variants sit at ranks the common pals rarely average to.
Ours is the game's real 44,849-pair table, shipped verbatim rather than approximated from the rank formula. The 19,044 figure still in circulation is 138 squared, the pre-1.0 roster of base forms counted as ordered pairs, so it measures something else. One pair shows the difference. Every calculator downstream of palcalc ships Panthalus and Panthalus as breeding true, and the game's own tables prove it cannot, because that pair yields Aegidron.
The shortest breeding path to Kelpsea Ignis
1 breeding step from a starter box reach Kelpsea Ignis. Croajiro and Tombat make Kelpsea Ignis.
- 1
Measured from an early-game box, so there is not much left to shorten. Load your save to check it against what you own.
Kelpsea Ignis passive skill odds per egg
A clean four-passive pool across both parents gives 10.0% per Kelpsea Ignis egg, which is about 22 eggs for a 90% shot at all four. Every extra passive skill on either parent lowers it.
| You want | Parent pool | Per egg | Eggs for 90% |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4 specific passives | 4 | 10.0% | 22 |
| 4 specific passives | 5 | 2.0% | 114 |
| 4 specific passives | 6 | 0.7% | 345 |
| 3 specific passives | 3 | 30.0% | 7 |
| 3 specific passives | 4 | 15.0% | 15 |
| 3 specific passives | 5 | 6.0% | 38 |
| 2 specific passives | 2 | 60.0% | 3 |
| 2 specific passives | 4 | 25.0% | 9 |
One junk passive on a parent can double the eggs you need. The per-egg column is the chance every passive skill you want lands on the egg, with random extras allowed. The roll behind these numbers is worked through in the Palworld passive inheritance odds guide, and the planner ranks the pairs in your own box by them.
Is Kelpsea Ignis worth breeding, or should you catch one?
Catch one. Kelpsea Ignis spawns from level 20, well short of the 1-step chain it takes to make one. The shortest chain from a starter box runs 1 step, and the cheapest pair still needs a level 1 catch. With 207 pairs on the list, one half of one of them is probably in your box already.
Breed it anyway once you own one. A pair is how you roll passive skills; catching is how you get the species.
Where to find Kelpsea Ignis in the wild

Kelpsea Ignis work suitability and drops
Kelpsea Ignis has Kindling 1 and Farming 1 in Palworld 1.0, and drops Ancient Civilization Parts and Flame Organ when killed or caught. Those levels and the drop rows come from our own export of the game's tables.
What Kelpsea Ignis is actually for once it hatches
Kindling 1 is the best it does, which is base filler out of a ceiling of 8. Check best Kindling pals for anything that does it properly. Attack 70 beats only 4% of the roster, so it is filler on both counts.
Kelpsea Ignis active skills and partner skill
Kelpsea Ignis learns 8 active skills as it levels, the last at level 70. Its partner skill is Lava Spout. That learnset is our own export of the game's level table, cooldowns and all.

Kelpsea Ignis breeding FAQ
- Can you breed Kelpsea Ignis in Palworld?
- Yes. 207 pairs produce Kelpsea Ignis in the Palworld 1.0 breeding table. Both parents have to be opposite genders, in a breeding farm, with cake in the feed box. The cheapest of those pairs is Dumud and Herbil, and the egg then needs an egg incubator to hatch.
- What two Pals make Kelpsea Ignis in Palworld?
- Dumud and Herbil, opposite genders. Both are catchable in the wild from about level 1, which makes it the cheapest of the 207 pairs that produce Kelpsea Ignis. Every other pair is listed on this page. Both parents average to its breed rank of 2470.
- Can you catch Kelpsea Ignis in the wild in Palworld 1.0?
- Yes, at level 20-38. Its spawn points fall inside 2 named regions, the densest Dry Sandy Beach, where they run level 20-22. There is no alpha Kelpsea Ignis, so field spawns are the only source of one. The map on this page marks 73 spawn points for it in total.
- Are these Kelpsea Ignis breeding combos updated for Palworld 1.0?
- Yes. Every pair here comes out of the game's real 44,849-pair table, shipped verbatim rather than approximated. All 207 of Kelpsea Ignis's pairs are in the list, with the easiest 120 shown. Panthalus and Panthalus is the usual tell of a stale list, and the game's tables rule it out.
- Can Kelpsea Ignis be bred in the early game?
- The cheapest pair needs a level 1 catch, so yes, comfortably. From a starter box the chain runs 1 step, opening with Croajiro and Tombat. Anything you already own further along shortens it, which is the part loading your own save changes.
- Can Kelpsea Ignis inherit all four passive skills from one egg?
- Only if both parents' combined pool is exactly those four. Kelpsea Ignis is born with no fixed passive, so all four slots are open, and a pair like Dumud and Herbil has to carry nothing else. A clean four-passive pool is 10% per egg, about 22 eggs for a 90% shot.
Route this pair from your own save
Pal Hatchery reads your Level.sav in your browser and tells you which half of the Dumud and Herbil pair you already own.
It reads genders, levels and passive skills off the save, then routes from there. Nothing is uploaded.
