Why an older Vanwyrm combo list won't work
Pre-1.0 guides name a recipe. The 1.0 table works on averages: a pair produces Vanwyrm when the two parents' breed ranks average to its 1650. 1229 different pairs hit that average, which is why a page showing five or six rows is quoting a sample rather than an answer.
Ours is the game's real 44,849-pair table, shipped verbatim rather than approximated from the rank formula. The 19,044 figure still in circulation is 138 squared, the pre-1.0 roster of base forms counted as ordered pairs, so it measures something else. One pair shows the difference. Every calculator downstream of palcalc ships Panthalus and Panthalus as breeding true, and the game's own tables prove it cannot, because that pair yields Aegidron.
The shortest breeding path to Vanwyrm
2 breeding steps from a starter box reach Vanwyrm. Arsox and Chillet make Chillet Ignis, then Chillet Ignis and Loupmoon Cryst make Vanwyrm.
- 1
- 2
Measured from an early-game box. Anything you already own further along cuts steps off, so load your save and it routes from there.
Vanwyrm passive skill odds per egg
A clean four-passive pool across both parents gives 10.0% per Vanwyrm egg, which is about 22 eggs for a 90% shot at all four. Every extra passive skill on either parent lowers it.
| You want | Parent pool | Per egg | Eggs for 90% |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4 specific passives | 4 | 10.0% | 22 |
| 4 specific passives | 5 | 2.0% | 114 |
| 4 specific passives | 6 | 0.7% | 345 |
| 3 specific passives | 3 | 30.0% | 7 |
| 3 specific passives | 4 | 15.0% | 15 |
| 3 specific passives | 5 | 6.0% | 38 |
| 2 specific passives | 2 | 60.0% | 3 |
| 2 specific passives | 4 | 25.0% | 9 |
One junk passive on a parent can double the eggs you need. The per-egg column is the chance every passive skill you want lands on the egg, with random extras allowed. The roll behind these numbers is worked through in the full Palworld passive inheritance odds table, and the planner ranks the pairs in your own box by them.
Is Vanwyrm worth breeding, or should you catch one?
Catch one. Vanwyrm spawns from level 20, well short of the 2-step chain it takes to make one. The shortest chain from a starter box runs 2 steps, and the cheapest pair still needs a level 17 catch. With 1229 pairs on the list, one half of one of them is probably in your box already.
Breed it anyway once you own one. A pair is how you roll passive skills; catching is how you get the species.

Vanwyrm work suitability and drops
Vanwyrm has Transporting 3 and Kindling 2 in Palworld 1.0, and drops Ancient Civilization Parts and Bone when killed or caught. Those levels and the drop rows come from our own export of the game's tables.
What Vanwyrm is actually for once it hatches
Transporting 3 is the best it does, which is base filler out of a ceiling of 8. Check best Transporting pals for anything that does it properly. It works through the night, when the rest of the base is asleep.
Vanwyrm active skills and partner skill
Vanwyrm learns 9 active skills as it levels, the last at level 70. Its partner skill is Aerial Marauder. That learnset is our own export of the game's level table, cooldowns and all.

Vanwyrm breeding FAQ
- Can you breed Vanwyrm in Palworld?
- Yes. 1229 pairs produce Vanwyrm in the Palworld 1.0 breeding table. Both parents have to be opposite genders, in a breeding farm, with cake in the feed box. The cheapest of those pairs is Mimog and Digtoise, and the egg then needs an egg incubator to hatch.
- What two Pals make Vanwyrm in Palworld?
- Mimog and Digtoise, opposite genders. Both are catchable in the wild from about level 17, which makes it the cheapest of the 1229 pairs that produce Vanwyrm. Every other pair is listed on this page. Both parents average to its breed rank of 1650.
- Can you catch Vanwyrm in the wild in Palworld 1.0?
- Yes, at level 20-63. Its spawn points fall inside 11 named regions, the densest Scorched Ashland, where they run level 57-59. There is no alpha Vanwyrm, so field spawns are the only source of one. The map on this page marks 594 spawn points for it in total.
- Are these Vanwyrm breeding combos updated for Palworld 1.0?
- Yes. Every pair here comes out of the game's real 44,849-pair table, shipped verbatim rather than approximated. All 1229 of Vanwyrm's pairs are in the list, with the easiest 120 shown. Panthalus and Panthalus is the usual tell of a stale list, and the game's tables rule it out.
- Can Vanwyrm be bred in the early game?
- The cheapest pair needs a level 17 catch, so yes, comfortably. From a starter box the chain runs 2 steps, opening with Arsox and Chillet. Anything you already own further along shortens it, which is the part loading your own save changes.
- Can Vanwyrm inherit all four passive skills from one egg?
- Only if both parents' combined pool is exactly those four. Vanwyrm is born with no fixed passive, so all four slots are open, and a pair like Mimog and Digtoise has to carry nothing else. A clean four-passive pool is 10% per egg, about 22 eggs for a 90% shot.
Route this pair from your own save
Pal Hatchery reads your Level.sav in your browser and tells you which half of the Mimog and Digtoise pair you already own.
It reads genders, levels and passive skills off the save, then routes from there. Nothing is uploaded.
