Why an older Rainbow Slime combo list won't work
Pre-1.0 guides name a recipe. The 1.0 table works on averages: a pair produces Rainbow Slime when the two parents' breed ranks average to its 3100. 17 pairs hit that average. A page showing five or six rows is quoting a sample, not the set.
Ours is the game's real 44,849-pair table, shipped verbatim rather than approximated from the rank formula. The 19,044 figure still in circulation is 138 squared, the pre-1.0 roster of base forms counted as ordered pairs, so it measures something else. One pair shows the difference. Every calculator downstream of palcalc ships Panthalus and Panthalus as breeding true, and the game's own tables prove it cannot, because that pair yields Aegidron.
The shortest breeding path to Rainbow Slime
No chain of starter pals reaches Rainbow Slime inside six generations, so the first one has to be caught at level 42-44.
Rainbow Slime passive skill odds per egg
A clean four-passive pool across both parents gives 10.0% per Rainbow Slime egg, which is about 22 eggs for a 90% shot at all four. Every extra passive skill on either parent lowers it.
| You want | Parent pool | Per egg | Eggs for 90% |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4 specific passives | 4 | 10.0% | 22 |
| 4 specific passives | 5 | 2.0% | 114 |
| 4 specific passives | 6 | 0.7% | 345 |
| 3 specific passives | 3 | 30.0% | 7 |
| 3 specific passives | 4 | 15.0% | 15 |
| 3 specific passives | 5 | 6.0% | 38 |
| 2 specific passives | 2 | 60.0% | 3 |
| 2 specific passives | 4 | 25.0% | 9 |
One junk passive on a parent can double the eggs you need. The per-egg column is the chance every passive skill you want lands on the egg, with random extras allowed. The roll behind these numbers is worked through in Palworld passive skill inheritance, step by step, and the planner ranks the pairs in your own box by them.
Is Rainbow Slime worth breeding, or should you catch one?
Breed toward it, then catch one when you get there. Rainbow Slime only spawns at level 42-44, late enough that a pair often lands first. Nothing in a starter box reaches it inside six generations, and the cheapest pair needs a level 36 catch. 17 pairs is a wide enough net that one of them probably matches your box.
Breed it anyway once you own one. A pair is how you roll passive skills; catching is how you get the species.
Where to find Rainbow Slime in the wild
Rainbow Slime carries a wild level band of 42-44 in Palworld 1.0, and no named region on the map has a spawn point attributed to it. There is no alpha to fall back on either. Treat the band as the level to be at, not as a place to camp.
Rainbow Slime work suitability and drops
Rainbow Slime has Transporting 1 in Palworld 1.0, and drops Hallowed Bar when killed or caught. Those levels and the drop rows come from our own export of the game's tables.
What Rainbow Slime is actually for once it hatches
Transporting 1 is the best it does, which is base filler out of a ceiling of 8. Check best Transporting pals for anything that does it properly. It eats 3 food slots, so it is cheap to keep fed.
Rainbow Slime active skills and partner skill
Rainbow Slime learns 1 active skill as it levels, the last at level 1. Its partner skill is Slime Body. That learnset is our own export of the game's level table, cooldowns and all.

What Rainbow Slime breeds into as a parent
Paired with other species, Rainbow Slime produces 110 different children, the rarest of them Kingpaca and Elizabee. A parent that wide is worth a farm slot on its own.
Rainbow Slime breeding FAQ
- Can you breed Rainbow Slime in Palworld?
- Yes. 17 pairs produce Rainbow Slime in the Palworld 1.0 breeding table. Both parents have to be opposite genders, in a breeding farm, with cake in the feed box. The cheapest of those pairs is Cave Bat and Green Slime, and the egg then needs an egg incubator to hatch.
- What two Pals make Rainbow Slime in Palworld?
- Cave Bat and Green Slime, opposite genders. Both are catchable in the wild from about level 36, which makes it the cheapest of the 17 pairs that produce Rainbow Slime. Every other pair is listed on this page. Both parents average to its breed rank of 3100.
- Can you catch Rainbow Slime in the wild in Palworld 1.0?
- Yes, at level 42-44. Its spawn points do not fall inside any named region on the map. There is no alpha Rainbow Slime to fall back on either, so the 17 pairs on this page are the dependable alternative. It is active in daylight.
- Are these Rainbow Slime breeding combos updated for Palworld 1.0?
- Yes. Every pair here comes out of the game's real 44,849-pair table, shipped verbatim rather than approximated. All 17 of Rainbow Slime's pairs are in the list. Panthalus and Panthalus is the usual tell of a stale list, and the game's tables rule it out.
- Can Rainbow Slime be bred in the early game?
- No. No chain of starter pals reaches Rainbow Slime inside six generations, so the first one has to be caught at level 42-44. 17 pairs breed more of them, the cheapest Cave Bat and Green Slime, which needs a level 36 catch of its own.
- Can Rainbow Slime inherit all four passive skills from one egg?
- Only if both parents' combined pool is exactly those four. Rainbow Slime is born with no fixed passive, so all four slots are open, and a pair like Cave Bat and Green Slime has to carry nothing else. A clean four-passive pool is 10% per egg, about 22 eggs for a 90% shot.
Route this pair from your own save
Pal Hatchery reads your Level.sav in your browser and tells you which half of the Cave Bat and Green Slime pair you already own.
It reads genders, levels and passive skills off the save, then routes from there. Nothing is uploaded.
