Gender odds on a Shaolong pair

You need two Shaolong in the farm at once, one of each gender. Shaolong hatches 50% male, so a coin flip either way. Two of the same gender in a breeding farm produces nothing at all, however right the pair is.

Paldex entry

“Its ring is reserved for a special occasion: upon meeting its destined companion, the rings are traded, a symbol of their eternal partnership.”

Shaolong is a Dragon/Water-type pal whose only entry in the Palworld 1.0 breeding table is two Shaolong. No chain of other species reaches it. Once two are in your box, pairing them rolls passive skills rather than producing a species you did not have. Wild ones sit at level 76-78. Best jobs: Watering 8, Gathering 5.

The only parent combination for Shaolong

Two Shaolong is the only pair the Palworld 1.0 table gives, and a pair of them averages to its own breed rank of 40. Opposite genders, cake in the breeding farm, then the egg goes in an egg incubator. You need both in the farm at the same time.

Why an older Shaolong combo list won't work

Pre-1.0 guides name a recipe. The 1.0 table works on averages: a pair produces a child when the parents' breed ranks average to the child's, and Shaolong sits at 40 with only itself hitting that number. Any older list naming two different species for it is quoting a table that no longer ships.

Ours is the game's real 44,849-pair table, shipped verbatim rather than approximated from the rank formula. The 19,044 figure still in circulation is 138 squared, the pre-1.0 roster of base forms counted as ordered pairs, so it measures something else. One pair shows the difference. Every calculator downstream of palcalc ships Panthalus and Panthalus as breeding true, and the game's own tables prove it cannot, because that pair yields Aegidron.

The shortest breeding path to Shaolong

No chain of starter pals reaches Shaolong inside six generations, so the first one has to be caught at level 76-78.

Shaolong passive skill odds per egg

A clean four-passive pool across both parents gives 10.0% per Shaolong egg, which is about 22 eggs for a 90% shot at all four. Every extra passive skill on either parent lowers it.

2 specific passives2 60.0%3

One junk passive on a parent can double the eggs you need. The per-egg column is the chance every passive skill you want lands on the egg, with random extras allowed. The roll behind these numbers is worked through in passive inheritance odds for two parents of the same species, and the planner ranks the pairs in your own box by them.

Is Shaolong worth breeding, or should you catch one?

Catch one, because breeding cannot start it. Shaolong spawns at level 76-78, and no pair of two different species hatches one. Nothing in a starter box reaches it inside six generations.

Breed it anyway once two are in the box. Pairing them rolls passive skills, which is the only thing breeding can still give you here.

Where to find Shaolong in the wild

Shaolong carries a wild level band of 76-78 in Palworld 1.0, and no named region on the map has a spawn point attributed to it. There is no alpha to fall back on either. Treat the band as the level to be at, not as a place to camp.

Shaolong work suitability and drops

Shaolong has Watering 8 and Gathering 5 in Palworld 1.0, and drops Ancient Civilization Parts and Decayed Ancient Relic when killed or caught. Those levels and the drop rows come from our own export of the game's tables.

What Shaolong is actually for once it hatches

Watering 8 is the reason to keep one, one off the ceiling of 8. Put it on that job and leave it there. Ranked against the rest on best Watering pals. It eats 9 food slots a sitting, which is a real cost once a base is full. At rarity 9 of 20 you will not trip over one.

Shaolong active skills and partner skill

Shaolong learns 8 active skills as it levels, the last at level 70. Its partner skill is Azure Sovereign. That learnset is our own export of the game's level table, cooldowns and all.

What Shaolong breeds into as a parent

Paired with other species, Shaolong produces 69 different children, the rarest of them Anubis and Blazamut. 68 of those pairings use a partner you can catch in the wild.

Shaolong breeding FAQ

Can you breed Shaolong in Palworld?
Not from any other species. The only pairing in the Palworld 1.0 table that produces Shaolong is two Shaolong, opposite genders, with cake in the breeding farm. You have to obtain the first one some other way before breeding is an option at all.
Can you catch Shaolong in the wild in Palworld 1.0?
Yes, at level 76-78. Its spawn points do not fall inside any named region on the map. There is no alpha Shaolong to fall back on either, so two Shaolong in one farm is the only alternative the tables give. It is active in daylight.
Are these Shaolong breeding combos updated for Palworld 1.0?
Yes. The game's real 44,849-pair table gives Shaolong exactly one entry, two Shaolong, and no cross-species pair at all. Older lists naming two different species for it are quoting a table that no longer ships. Panthalus and Panthalus is the usual tell that a list is stale.
Can Shaolong be bred in the early game?
No. No chain of starter pals reaches Shaolong inside six generations, so the first one has to be caught at level 76-78. Two Shaolong is the only pair the 1.0 table holds for it, so breeding is what you do after the catch rather than instead of it.
Can Shaolong inherit all four passive skills from one egg?
Only if the two Shaolong you pair hold exactly those four between them. Shaolong is born with no fixed passive, so all four slots are open, and anything extra on either parent dilutes the draw. A clean four-passive pool is 10% per egg, about 22 eggs for a 90% shot.

Route this pair from your own save

Pal Hatchery reads your Level.sav in your browser and ranks your own Shaolong pairs by the passive skills they would actually pass on. It reads genders, levels and passive skills off the save, then routes from there. Nothing is uploaded.
