Palworld Cake Recipe (and the Farm That Feeds It).

Nothing stops a breeding project faster than running out of cake. The recipe is the easy half. The hard half is a ranch that can hand you thirty of them without you standing in a field picking berries, and that is a supply chain with five separate inputs.

What one cake costs

One cake takes 5 flour, 8 red berries, 7 milk, 8 eggs and 2 honey, combined at a cooking pot with a Kindling Pal working it. A Breeding Farm eats a cake to produce an egg, so the recipe below is also your per-egg bill.

IngredientPer cakeWhere it comes from
Flour 5Wheat, ground at a mill
Red berries 8Berry plantation
Milk 7Mozzarina on a ranch
Eggs 8Chikipi on a ranch
Honey 2Beegarde on a ranch

Read the quantities, not the ingredient count. Eggs and berries tie at 8 each, milk is close behind at 7, and honey needs only 2. That spread is the whole reason a ranch built evenly across all five producers runs dry on three of them while honey piles up.

The pot needs all five at once. Four ingredients and a shortfall on the fifth produces nothing at all, so the fix for a stalled pot is never to top up what you already have.

Which Pal produces each ingredient

Milk comes from Mozzarina, eggs from Chikipi and honey from Beegarde, each assigned to a ranch. Berries and wheat come off plantations instead, and wheat has to be milled into flour before the pot will take it.

Milk, eggs and honey come off the ranch

The game names the producer in the item's own description, which saves guessing. Milk "can be milked from" Mozzarina, eggs are produced by Chikipi, and honey is "harvested from" Beegarde. Assign one to a ranch and it drops its item on a timer with no input from you.

29 of the 299 Pals have Farming suitability at all, and the level changes how much you get, never what drops. Beegarde sits at Farming 3, Mozzarina at 2 and Chikipi at 1. Chikipi being the weakest worker of the three is awkward, given eggs are tied for the largest quantity in the recipe. Answer that with slots, not with a better bird.

Elizabee also produces honey, which matters less than it sounds at 2 per cake. Every source of milk and honey producers and drop sources list the alternatives with the game's own rates, and all ranch Pals with Farming suitability is the roster to staff from. If you would sooner breed the producers than catch them, how to breed Mozzarina has its parent pairs.

Berries and flour come off plantations

Red berries need a berry plantation, which is a different building with different staff. A plantation wants Planting to sow the seed, then Watering while the crop grows, then Gathering to bring it in. A plantation with no Watering Pal assigned looks built and produces nothing.

Flour is the input with the extra step. Wheat grows on its own plantation, then goes through a mill to become flour, so 5 flour per cake means a second plantation and a building the wheat has to reach. Staff a transporter or the wheat sits in the field.

All five cakes in 1.0, and what each does to the egg

Palworld 1.0 ships five cakes and every one of them feeds a Breeding Farm. The plain one is the neutral choice, and the other four each bend a different part of the egg roll according to the game's own item descriptions.

CakeWhat the game says it changesFeed it when
CakeNothing beyond the egg itselfRouting species, which is most of the time
Mushroom CakeTalents grow slightly more easilyChasing a combat statline
Vegetable CakeThe pair lays two eggs at onceAny long roll where volume is the point
Extravagant Vegetable CakeMutations more likely, talents grow more easilyHunting a mutated egg on purpose
Special CakeMore likely to inherit multiple passives from the parentsThe passive rolls that actually matter

Note the names. The neutral one is called Cake in game and nothing longer, the mutation one is Extravagant Vegetable Cake and never "Exquisite Veggie Cake", and Vegetable Cake and Extravagant Vegetable Cake are two different items doing two different jobs. Guides that abbreviate both to "veggie cake" have collapsed a doubled egg yield and a mutation bonus into one word.

Matching the cake to the goal is the part nobody writes down, so here it is by goal. Moving a passive down a lineage wants Special Cake. Filling a box with attempts wants Vegetable Cake, because two eggs per feed halves the cakes a given number of rolls costs. Perfecting talents on a species you already have wants Mushroom Cake. Mutations want the Extravagant version, and everything else wants the plain one.

None of the five carries a published magnitude. The game says Special Cake makes a Pal "more likely" to inherit multiple passives and stops there, with no percentage in any data table, so treat the numbers circulating for these as estimates. The direction of effect is solid. The size is not.

One consequence for the plain cake in your box: it is never wasted. A cake with an effect still lays the egg, so the only cost of feeding the wrong one is the effect you did not get.

A ranch that keeps up with an incubator

Build the ranch before the breeding pen, and size it off the recipe instead of evenly. Milk and eggs are 7 and 8 per cake against honey's 2, so the honey producer needs a fraction of the slots the other two do.

A starting ratio, derived from the recipe

Divide the quantities and the ratio falls out. Eggs and milk are within one of each other, so they want matching capacity, and honey runs 4-to-1 behind eggs. Two Mozzarina and two Chikipi against one Beegarde tracks that. Start there and let the chest correct you.

Then adjust on evidence. Whichever ingredient hits zero first is the one to add a slot to, and it will not always be the one arithmetic predicted, because ranch drops are on timers and your collection is not. Watch the chest, not the spreadsheet.

Why your ranch looks unproductive

A ranch that appears to produce nothing is nearly always producing fine and failing to deliver. Four causes, in the order they bite.

  • Nothing is collecting. Ranch drops sit on the ground until a Pal with Transporting picks them up. 148 Pals can do it, so there is no excuse for the base not having one.
  • The producer took another job. Pals walk to the nearest task, so a ranch animal on a mining base spends its day carrying ore. Split the farm base from the industry base.
  • The pot has no Kindling. Ingredients with nobody to cook them look exactly like missing ingredients. 44 Pals have Kindling, and Renjishi tops the list at 8. Kindling Pals to staff the cooking pot ranks them.
  • The ranch is full. Uncollected drops cap out and production stops. Nothing overflows onto the floor.

Why your cooking pot will not make cake

A cooking pot with four of the five ingredients produces nothing, and the recipe greys out without saying which input is short. Check the count on all five before assuming the pot is broken.

After a genuine shortfall, the cause is staffing. The pot needs a Pal with Kindling assigned and awake, and a hungry or exhausted cook stops working while still standing there. A Pal standing at the pot is not the same as a Pal working the pot.

The other repeat offender is flour, the one ingredient you manufacture instead of harvesting. A full wheat store next to an empty flour store reads as plenty of ingredients right up to the moment the pot refuses.

What a passive project costs in cake

Budget 22 cakes for one four-passive project, because a Breeding Farm eats a cake per egg and a clean four-passive pool needs about 22 eggs before you are 90% sure of a hit. Multiply the recipe by that and you get the real shopping list.

IngredientPer cakeFor 22 eggs
Flour5 110
Red berries8 176
Milk7 154
Eggs8 176
Honey2 44

176 eggs and 154 milk is the number that surprises people, and it is for a project that goes to plan. A pool with one junk passive in it costs five times the eggs, so five times this table, and your ranch becomes the bottleneck long before the breeding table does.

Which is the argument for cleaning parents before you buy more producers. The per-egg odds that set your cake budget has the derivation and the full table of pool sizes, and it is worth reading before you commit a harvest. What the Breeding Farm needs besides cake covers the pen itself, and a Legend chain and what it costs in cake is the long version of this arithmetic.

Feed the plain one while you route species and save the Special Cake for the rolls that decide the project. Stock takes an afternoon. Rolling without stock takes a week.

Frequently asked

What ingredients does cake need in Palworld?
Per cake: 5 flour, 8 red berries, 7 milk, 8 eggs and 2 honey, combined at a cooking pot with a Kindling Pal working it. Flour is milled from wheat, red berries come off a plantation, and milk, eggs and honey come from Mozzarina, Chikipi and Beegarde on a ranch.
Which Pal produces milk in Palworld?
Mozzarina, assigned to a ranch. The game's own description for milk says it is milked from Mozzarina. At 7 milk per cake it is one of the two ingredients that runs dry first, so run more than one if any chain is longer than a few eggs.
How much cake does a passive breeding project take?
About 22 cakes, because the farm eats a cake per egg and a clean four-passive pool needs roughly 22 eggs for a 90% chance. That is 176 eggs, 154 milk and 110 flour off your ranch. Junk passives left in the pool multiply that instead of adding to it.
What does Special Cake do in Palworld?
Special Cake makes a Pal more likely to inherit multiple passive skills from its parents, so feed it during a passive chain and keep the plain one for ordinary species routing. The game publishes no magnitude for the effect, only the direction.
Can you use other cakes for breeding in Palworld?
Yes, and each of the five changes something different. The plain Cake is neutral, Mushroom Cake helps talents grow, Vegetable Cake makes the pair lay two eggs at once, Extravagant Vegetable Cake favors mutations, and Special Cake favors passive inheritance. Feed the one matching your goal.
Which Pal produces honey in Palworld?
Beegarde on a ranch, and Elizabee drops it too. At 2 honey per cake against 8 eggs, honey is the ingredient you over-supply first, so one Beegarde covers a lot of baking. Elizabee spawns at a higher level than Beegarde, so it is rarely worth the detour.
Why is my cooking pot not making cake?
Almost always one ingredient at zero, and flour is the usual culprit because wheat has to be milled first. The pot itself is rarely the problem. After that, check it has a Kindling Pal assigned and that the Pal is fed instead of merely standing there.
